NSFW Content Posted Without Your Permission? Here’s How You Can Take It Down

Mar 21, 2023

The internet is no stranger to people stealing other people’s content, especially from NSFW creators.

Let’s be real.

Most of us are just living our lives, making our money, and using the internet to do it. We deserve to do it in peace without someone stealing our content, violated our trust, and costing us money by putting our stuff out for free.

The frustration. The violation. It’s the worst.

Finding out that someone has shared our nudes on the internet without our consent can be devastating, but we’re here to tell you that you don’t have to put up with it! 🙅‍♀️🙅‍♀️

Let’s talk about what you can do!

Ever heard of the DMCA? You’ve probably heard this term thrown around by hundreds of different content creators online, but honestly, what is it?

The DMCA, or Digital Millennium Copyright Act, is a law that protects your creative rights to your own content and forces platforms to remove material posted online without your consent. In other words, it can help you take down any content reposted without your permission, just by sending a simple notice.

Here are three simple steps that our Team at PrivyCam compiled to help you file a DMCA takedown notice 💅

  1. Prove that your content is being stolen.

Take those screenshots! Get as much evidence as you can to prove that your content is being re-uploaded without your permission. Showing that copyright infringement is taking place will legitimize your takedown notice 💪🏻

  2. Identify where to send the notice.

Examine the platform that the content was posted on and look for their “Terms and Conditions” policy. They’ll usually have the DMCA process outlined and will tell you who to send the notice to and what to include!

  3. File the form & send the notice.

Above all, these are the most important things to include in the notice:

    1. The content being uploaded without your permission (your screenshots will come in handy here!)

    2. The location of the re-uploaded content, make sure to specify the platform name and URL if you can.

    3. The good faith statement— this is a statement that differs by platform, but it states that you are providing accurate information and that you are the owner of the re-uploaded content.

    4. The penalty of perjury

    5. Your name and signature

    6. Your contact information

^ There are a few third party services like DMCA.com that will help you do this for free!

Now you’re ready to take control of your content and get rid of those annoying leaks 🙌
